With a sure hope in the Resurrection, we announce that,
after some months of increased tiredness, Archbishop Germain of Saint-Denis,
Primate of the French Orthodox Church, fell asleep in the Lord Monday 7 August 2023.
He had been primate since his episcopal consecration in 1972
and he continued to lead his flock faithfully and has certainly earned his rest.
"The Lord is my rock, my fortress, my deliverer, in him I hope" (Psalm 18,3)
This day, Monday August 7 at 1 p.m., feast of Saint Victrice, Bishop of Rouen, the day after the feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord Jesus Christ, our beloved Archbishop Monsignor Germain of Saint-Denis was born in heaven at the hospital of Rochefort (in Charente-Maritime), after having served with zeal, courage and perseverance the Orthodox Catholic Church of France for more than 65 years. Bishop Germain will be taken to Saint-Irénée Cathedral in Paris within the next two days. He will be exhibited in the nave, dressed in his Episcopal ornaments, so that clerics and faithful can show him their affection through prayer.

The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Sunday August 13 at 11 a.m. (preceded by lauds at 10:30 a.m.), on the feast of Saint Radegonde.

Ce jour, lundi 7 août à 13 heures, fête de saint Victrice, évêque de Rouen, au lendemain de la fête de la Transfiguration de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, notre archevêque bien-aimé Monseigneur Germain de Saint-Denis est né au ciel à l’hôpital de Rochefort (en Charente-Maritime), après avoir servi avec zèle, courage et persévérance l’Église catholique orthodoxe de France pendant plus de 65 ans. Mgr Germain sera conduit à la cathédrale Saint-Irénée à Paris dans les deux jours qui viennent. Il sera exposé dans la nef, revêtu de ses ornements épiscopaux, pour que clercs et fidèles puissent lui témoigner leur affection par la prière.
La liturgie des funérailles sera célébrée le dimanche 13 août à 11 heures (précédée des laudes à 10 h 30), en la fête de sainte Radegonde.
